Non-governmental diplomacy, different from public diplomacy that is established between different governments, is an important trend in diplomacy. Sometimes, non-governmental diplomacy arousing in broad spectrums including sports, culture, press, academia, civil organization, exerts more influence than the traditional public diplomacy. Explain a case of non-governmental diplomacy by giving a specific example and illustrate the meaning, the role and the development direction of the non-governmental diplomacy.

> Non-governmental diplomacy is being an important trend in diplomacy these days. Non-governmental diplomacy is virtually affecting to diverse topics. It means that non-governmental diplomacy is rising as a new revolutionary type of diplomacy.

Before I start this essay, I want to define the meaning of non-governmental diplomacy. ‘Non-governmental means that exclusive of government.’ By using this definition of ‘non-governmental’, I defined our key word as: Diplomacy that is done by individual while public diplomacy means “Diplomacy that is established between different countries.” This essay is about specific examples, meaning, role and the development direction of the non-governmental diplomacy.

To be an example of non-governmental diplomacy, it has to fit in some conditions. First, exclusive from the government. Second, affect too many diverse issues over the world. I think ‘Bank’ which made in Korea can be example of non-governmental diplomacy. Bank is the organization for teenager diplomats and their major work is that introduce our culture, history and the point that people in the world are misunderstanding about Korea. They made UCC and articles about Dokdo that is Korea territory and introduced it to foreigners. This activity became the most popular activity they did.

In my opinion the most fundamental role that non-governmental diplomacy is doing what public diplomacy cannot (or didn’t) do. Public diplomacy has many limits they’re not free like non-governmental diplomacy so they sometimes cannot do things that good to Korea. Non-governmental diplomacy can do it.

I hope that non-governmental diplomacy develops and the development direction is do what public diplomacy cannot do. Also, I believe that if we’re having attention to non-governmental diplomacy, it would extend its effect over the world.

Considering the historic or geographic context, the three Northeast Asian countries (Korea, China and Japan) are either cooperating or competing in diverse domain including politics, military affairs, economy and culture. All three governments desire to maintain a strategic cooperative relationship that flows through the past, the present and the future with one another. List as much Korea-China, Korea-Japan diplomatic issues that you know of and present describe response Korea can take towards China and Japan on respective issues.

> The three Northeast Asian Countries (Korea, Japan, and China) have shared some part of their histories and that is the reason why those 3 countries have to help each other and work together. We will share a lot of our culture and history is the future.

Korea-China: representative example of Korea-China diplomacy is Korea-China FTA, and Korea and China is still continuing the negotiation of FTA.

Korea-Japan: These two nations had many diplomatic issues but the most popular issue was obviously, Dokdo issue. They have kept debate about ‘where the Dokdo does belong to?’

I think Korea have to keep peace with those of two countries and try to preserve our own culture.
