에세이 콘테스트 (이지수 / 중3)

1. Obama who is now the president of United States promised to protect a whistle-blower as a contributor to democracy when he was one of the candidates for the president. But those days, he is even stricter than any other presidents before. I’m so regretful that Snowden was forced to leave his country. I think a whistle-blower is the protector of human rights and democracy against the supremacy of the super powers.

First of all, people have the right to know the truth. It is totally crime that a government hides the truth to gain economic or political profits. It is also an important idea of the democracy

 Second, to develop the country in terms of democracy, economy and other things, a government’s bad deed has taken deceased by the criticism. They must not be afraid of being criticized. It is a natural thing that a community makes a progress by being criticized. If the government doesn’t admit its faults, the vicious circle will be repeated and that country won’t be able to be advanced.

 Last, it is not an idea of democracy that someone to be arrested due to accusing his government of bad deeds. It isn’t different from the past when the monarch killed his innocent people whenever he wanted the government today has to respect its people.

 In conclusion, I agree that Assange and Snowden are the protectors of human rights and democracy. Because it’s for the right to know the truth and advances of the country.  Also, it protects democracy which we are pursuing.

2.  Jasmin Revolution has caused the agonies in so many countries. This resulted from complex historical facts and economic profit.
People, who used to fight without weapons against their government, are now fighting with weapons that were supplied by other countries and even terrorists. People used to fight for human rights and democracy in the past but now most of them pursue their wealth. Many people including women and children suffer from the war lasted for many years. We have to pay attention to these countries.

 First, the countries that are helping nations of those countries under the title of “democracy” have to stop interfering their “true democracy”. They always talk as if they were helping people suffering from the wars, but actually what they are interested in is only their economy to be prosper.

 Next, people fighting against their government should stop fighting once and think about what they are fighting for. And they have to realize that most of their lovely children become a part of army to survive. They have to be aware of women living, disastrous lives.

 Last, we have to pay attention to hose countries and practice things what we can do. For instance, the biggest fact on that makes them be able to sustain so many wars is a diamond. Because we buy lots of diamonds from their country, they can buy weapons. Actually, many people who really concern about people in North Africa don’t buy diamonds from their countries.

 In conclusion, to finish this catastrophe, we all have to once stop doing something, and think what we were doing.
